Physics & Foam: The Bioacoustics of Sound

Saturday, May 16, 2 PM

Speech is one of those things that you probably don't think about - you just do it. But how do we produce speech?  Speech is sound, and we use over 70 muscles and 15 cranial and spinal nerves to produce that sound.  Surprisingly, the way this all works is very similar to how many musical instruments work.  Dr. Don Finan, from the University of Northern Colorado Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, will discuss how musical instruments and our own anatomy make sounds and how we can make duck calls talk! And yes, why we are talking tubes!  Join us for Physics and Foam, complete with delicious beer, fascinating science, and trivia for prizes!

Lose yourself in a story—and maybe a parallel life—at Bindings & Brews Book Club on Sunday, May 17 at 5 PM at Loveland Aleworks.

This month we’re diving into Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid, a heartfelt, thought-provoking novel that explores how one single decision can split your life into two entirely different paths. It’s emotional, relatable, and perfect for a lively discussion over a pint.

Whether you’ve read every page or just want to soak in the vibes, all are welcome. Grab a beer, bring your thoughts, and join a community of fellow readers for an evening of great conversation, good company, and even better brews.

Banned Book Club Meeting

Wednesday, May 20 at 5 PM

This month we’re reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee—a powerful classic that confronts injustice, morality, and the complexities of growing up in a divided world. It’s a book that continues to spark conversation decades later… which makes it perfect for this crew.

Join us as we raise a glass to the freedom to read, think, and discuss openly. Come ready to share your perspective, hear others, and dig into a story that still matters. Great beer, bold books, and even better conversation await.
